Cladding and Exterior
Your garden room’s exterior is something you will see from the house, the patio and the garden every day. Cladding helps set its character, whether you prefer natural timber, a contemporary finish or a slatted detail.
Explore the options alongside your chosen Noah range. Cladding is a design choice, with availability and price confirmed for your building.

Compare the options

Timber gives you the grain and variation of natural wood at the most affordable price. Pressure-treated timber needs treating or painting to keep it protected. Thermowood needs very little care, with an optional oil coat.

Cedar offers a natural timber appearance with real colour and grain variation, and needs very little care. Leave it to silver naturally, or add an optional oil coat to keep its warm tones.

Composite is maintenance free. It holds its colour and never needs painting, staining or oiling, so an occasional wash is all it asks of you.

Our slatted cladding is composite, so it is maintenance free too, with a repeated vertical line for a sharper look.
Choosing your range
Timber, Thermowood, cedar and composite are available on all five ranges. Slatted composite and brick effect are available on Garden Rooms, Signature and Granny Annexes, and the Grey SIP finish on Signature and Granny Annexes.
The options are subject to your building specification and current availability. Your quotation should identify the chosen material, finish and areas to be clad.

At a glance
Each cladding changes how the room looks, how much looking after it needs and what it costs. Here are all seven side by side, from our most affordable to our most premium.
| Cladding | Look | Upkeep | Colours | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Timber | Natural grain and variation, at our most affordable price | Needs treating or painting to keep it protected | Natural timber | £££££ |
| Thermowood | A warmer timber tone that weathers evenly | Very little care, with an optional oil coat | Natural timber | £££££ |
| Grey SIP finish | The panels’ own dark grey lined metal finish | Ask us for care guidance | Dark grey | £££££ |
| Composite | An even colour that holds, with no painting or staining | Maintenance free: an occasional wash | Light grey, charcoal or brown | £££££ |
| Slatted composite | Narrow vertical slats with shadow gaps | Maintenance free: an occasional wash | Light grey, charcoal or brown | £££££ |
| Cedar | Western red cedar, with real colour and grain variation | Very little care. Leave it to silver, or oil it to keep its warm tones | Natural cedar | £££££ |
| Brick effect | The look of brickwork | Ask us for care guidance | One brick-effect finish | £££££ |
Cost compares the price per square metre of wall, from £ to £££££. What you pay depends on the size of your building and how much of it is clad, and the configurator shows the difference as you choose.
Whichever cladding you choose, the fascia and corner trims come in black or grey, and the door and window frames in white, black, anthracite or brown.
Next steps
Screens and photographs can show colours differently. Ask what samples or displays are available before making your final choice.
Every building is clad, and the cladding is part of its price. Our starting prices include timber on Garden Buildings and Garden Pods, charcoal composite on Garden Rooms, and the Grey SIP finish with a cedar front on Signature. Choose a different cladding in the configurator and the price updates as you go.
It depends on what matters most to you. For the least upkeep, choose composite or slatted composite, which only need an occasional wash. For real timber with little care, choose cedar or Thermowood. For the lowest price, choose pressure-treated timber and plan to paint it. The comparison above sets all seven options side by side.
Discuss the combination and elevations you have in mind. We will need to confirm what is available for the building.
Cladding is priced by the square metre of wall it covers, so the difference depends on the size of your building. The comparison above ranks the options by cost, and the configurator shows the exact difference for your design as you choose.
Natural timber reacts to sunlight. Left unoiled, cedar weathers to a silver-grey over a few years, and a yearly UV-protection oil keeps its warm colour. Thermowood weathers evenly, and pressure-treated timber takes on the colour you paint it. Composite has UV-stable pigments mixed through it: it may lighten slightly in the first few months as it settles, then keeps its colour well, and a colour restorer can refresh it if needed.
Our composite boards are made from 60% recycled hardwood fibres and 40% recycled plastic. They do not soak up water, so they will not rot, warp or split, and they never need sanding, sealing or painting. Our slatted cladding is the same composite in a slatted profile.
We fit a breathable waterproof membrane behind every cladding board. It keeps rain out of the structure while letting moisture escape. There is also an air gap between the cladding and the wall, so air can circulate and keep the boards dry.
On Garden Buildings, the clad doors are finished in the same cladding as the walls, so they blend in. Glazed doors and windows have coloured frames instead: see Windows and Doors for the options.
Leave at least 1ft of clear space all round. We need it to install the building, and you will need it later to wash, oil or paint the cladding. If the building will sit close to a boundary, check the height limits in our planning guide.
