Storage

Garden storage planned around what you keep

Get the bikes out without moving the mower first. Give garden tools a place close to where you use them. A storage building works best when the layout reflects what goes inside.

We build made-to-measure garden buildings for practical storage, and garden rooms that can combine a usable room with a separate storage area. Tell us what you want to keep and how you want to reach it, and we can discuss the right arrangement.

Choosing your range

A dedicated store or part of a garden room

Choose a standalone building if storage is the main purpose. If you also need a place to work or relax, a partitioned layout may help you make use of one building for both.

Garden Buildings

Our heavy-duty Garden Buildings range is the practical starting point for dedicated storage. The configurator starts this range with timber-clad double doors, and partitions are optional, so the layout can be discussed around larger items and separate areas.

This range does not include insulation or electrics. Foundation supply and installation are optional. Tell us about anything with specific storage requirements before choosing the building.

Garden Rooms

If you want a room for regular use alongside storage, our Garden Rooms range includes PIR insulation, electrics and laminate flooring. Partitions are optional, allowing us to discuss a separate storage area within the design.

Agree how each area will be accessed and what the quotation includes for its finish and specification. Foundation supply and installation are optional on this range.

Make an inventory before measuring the building

Start with the largest items, then add what you expect to store over the year. Measure bikes with their handlebars, the mower in its stored position and furniture with any parts that cannot be folded.

Next, think about frequency of use. Leave the things you reach for every week near the door. Seasonal items can sit further back, provided you can still get to them without unloading the whole building.

Allow room to stand inside and move an item past the others. That small working space often matters more than squeezing another shelf into the plan.

Keep garden access simple

Position the entrance around the route you use from the house, driveway or garden. Check the width needed for your largest item and consider where an open door will sit.

For bikes, a direct route from the gate may be useful. For a mower, think about the way onto the lawn and any changes in level. Tell us about steps or restricted access so they can be considered before installation.

Door configurations depend on the building range. We can discuss the available options and confirm the clear opening in the agreed design.

Separate storage from the room you use

An office can soon become an overflow cupboard if storage has no space of its own. A partition gives you a way to plan the two uses separately from the start.

Work out what belongs in each area and how you want to enter it. Separate external access may be worth discussing if you regularly bring garden equipment in and out. It needs to be part of the agreed design, rather than assumed from the addition of a partition.

Think about the balance of space too. Enough room for your desk matters, but so does being able to retrieve stored items without rearranging them every time.

Choose the specification for the contents

A practical store and an insulated room serve different needs. Garden Buildings do not include insulation, so do not assume they provide controlled conditions for everything you might keep inside.

If an item has temperature or humidity requirements, bring those details into the conversation. Insulation alone does not guarantee those conditions. Heating and any other measures need considering alongside how the building will be used.

The same applies to heavy storage. Share details of concentrated loads, such as stacked materials or substantial shelving, so suitability can be checked. Do not assume a floor finish establishes the load the building can support.

Think about security and power early

Tell us what you plan to store so we can discuss the available security features for the chosen building. If your insurer sets requirements for high-value items, check those against the agreed specification before ordering.

For a combined Garden Room and store, include lighting and any charging requirements in the electrical brief. Electrics are included in Garden Rooms, with the agreed package confirmed in your quotation.

Connection of the garden room to the main property electrical supply is not included unless expressly stated within the quotation. This work can be quoted separately if required, subject to a site survey and the requirements of our electrical contractor.

Garden Buildings do not include electrics. If power is essential to the storage space, discuss that before selecting the range.

Common questions

Garden storage questions

Can I have storage alongside a garden office?

Yes, we can discuss a Garden Room with an optional partition. The size of each area, door positions and specification need agreeing as part of the design.

Are shelves and bike racks included?

Treat shelving, cabinets and racks as separate fit-out items unless expressly included in your quotation. Share their dimensions and fixing requirements before the building specification is finalised.

Will the building keep everything dry and at a steady temperature?

We do not promise controlled storage conditions from a standard building specification. Tell us about any sensitive contents and their requirements. Garden Buildings are uninsulated; an insulated Garden Room still needs its intended conditions considered separately.

Can I have a separate door for the storage area?

Discuss it with us at the design stage. Available door arrangements depend on the range, layout and agreed specification. An optional partition does not automatically include another external door.

Is the foundation included?

Foundation supply and installation are optional on Garden Buildings and Garden Rooms. Confirm the scope and suitability for your site before ordering.
